Seniesa Estrada Retains WBA and WBC 105-Pound Titles in a Tough Battle against Leonela Yudica | FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

In a thrilling display of grit and skill, Seniesa Estrada successfully defended her WBA and WBC 105-pound titles in a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Leonela Yudica at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort on Friday night. All three judges scored the fight 97-93, recognizing the impressive performance of Estrada, but also acknowledging the valiant effort by Yudica in this closely contested matchup.

Estrada, known for her versatility and exceptional boxing ability, utilized her height and reach advantage to tactically outmaneuver her opponent. The fight saw numerous exchanges and rounds that proved challenging to score, showcasing the tenacity and determination of both fighters.

Reflecting on the encounter, Estrada admitted that she was well aware of Yudica's style as a mover and knew she had to bring something different to the table. "I knew coming into this fight that she was a boxer, she was gonna move away from me," shared Estrada with ESPN’s Bernardo Osuna in the ring. "She doesn’t come forward much, so preparing for this fight I just knew that I had to show something different in my style. I mean, my last fight, I fought a good champion who came forward and was aggressive and I easily outboxed her. And with this fight, she’s a boxer and a mover, and I showed, you know, that I can fight any type of style because my style is versatile."

Acknowledging that Yudica was a natural flyweight and physically larger, Estrada credited her footwork, feints, and movements for landing effective punches while avoiding counters. The battle of skill and will between the two fighters kept the audience on the edge of their seats throughout the match.

Estrada (25-0, 9 KOs) has been on an impressive run, having previously captured a second minimumweight belt in a title-unification victory over Tina Rupprecht. The 31-year-old from East L.A. has made three successful title defenses at 105 pounds and is currently ESPN's No. 6 pound-for-pound boxer.

With this victory under her belt, Estrada is now setting her sights on a title unification fight against Yokasta Valle, the holder of the IBF and WBO 105-pound championships. Valle entered the ring after the match, calling out Estrada for a showdown in Costa Rica.

"I want Yokasta Valle," asserted Estrada, who ranks No. 1 in ESPN's rankings, with Valle closely behind at No. 2. "I'm the best in this division. I want to prove it by beating her. She can just hand me those belts right now because when we fight, it's going to be bad for her."

On the other side, Yudica (19-2-3, 1 KO) exhibited her displeasure with the judges' decision during her post-fight interview. She was adamant about her own performance, claiming that she had hit Estrada harder than anyone else.

Despite the loss, Yudica's performance impressed many, and she proved to be a formidable opponent for Estrada. The Argentine fighter, who competed at the 105-pound limit for the first time, displayed incredible resilience and determination throughout the contest.
