Mikaela Mayer made her debut in the 135-pound division, and dominated late replacement Lucy Wildheart in a unanimous decision victory over 10 rounds on the Joe Joyce-Zhilei Zhang card in London.

Despite being a former 130-pound titleholder, Mayer looked comfortable in the new weight class, outworking Wildheart who had taken the fight on short notice after Christina Linardatou failed an eye test. Mayer landed more punches than her opponent, connecting on power shots to both the head and body with ease. CompuBox showed that Mayer landed 236 of 592 punches (40%), while Wildheart was 131 of 462 (28%).

With this win, Mayer is now in contention to face undisputed 135-pound champion Katie Taylor. Despite Taylor's upcoming fight with Chantelle Cameron and expected rematch with Amanda Serrano, Mayer is eager for the toughest challenge and believes that Taylor is the one to beat.

After the fight Mayer expressed her excitement by saying, "This is truly exciting for me. I believe this is where I belong in big fights, in title fights. I feel like I am in my prime and at my best. I crave the toughest challenges, and currently, that challenge lies in facing Katie Taylor in the 135-pound division."
